Pet preventative care is essential for maintaining your pet’s overall health and well-being. It involves regular check-ups, vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, and nutrition guidance. Regular Checkups

We examine every pet we see, whether it’s a puppy or kitten visit or a senior pet checkup, from “nose to tail,” looking for any breed-specific issues that might be affecting your pet’s health.

We recommend that most adult pets see us once a year for a checkup, and senior pets come to the hospital twice a year. Proactively monitoring your pet’s health helps ensure that we catch any potential health issues before they become serious.

Preventive Care

In general, pets are living longer, healthier lives than ever before. This can largely be attributed not only to advances in medicine but also to better preventive care. The most effective preventive care includes:

  • Vaccinations—There is no one-size-fits-all vaccination protocol. Our veterinarians understand this and carefully tailor our vaccination recommendations to each patient’s needs. You can be assured that your pet will receive the safest and highest quality vaccines available.
  • Dental Care—Dental disease is the most common and overlooked disease that animals develop. When your pet has a wellness exam, our veterinarians will carefully examine their teeth, gums, and oral cavity. We will guide you on how to brush your pet’s teeth and discuss dental treats, rinses, and other tools to protect your pet’s mouth from plaque and tartar buildup. Our veterinarians are also skilled at small mammal dental care, which is especially important for rabbits and rodents.
  • Proper Nutrition—Nutrition plays a vital role in your pet’s overall health. We work with each client to establish the right nutrition plan for your pet. If your pet has an ongoing medical condition, we have a large selection of prescription diets available at our hospital for your convenience.
